How often should you service your car?

That depends on when you last had your vehicle serviced. If the last service you had was a Full Service, it’s recommended that you get a Major Service.

Your brake fluid is checked in a Major Service, which is important for your safety to ensure your car breaks safely. A Major Service is recommended every two years or 24,000 miles.

Likewise, if your last service was a Major Service, your next service should be a Full Service, recommended for driving more than 8000 miles. An Interim Service is recommended every 6 months or 2000 miles.

How long does a car service take?

How long a service takes depends on the type of service you require and the type of vehicle you have. A car service is more thorough than an MOT, so it takes longer to carry out comprehensive checks on your vehicle.

Which Mobil oil should I select with my service?

High quality fresh engine oil helps to make sure that important components in your engine can move freely.

Old oil can restrict movement of these parts and over time damage can occur.  At ATS Euromaster, we use Mobil oil, due to its superior quality.

Air Conditioning

We offer both an Air con recharge/regas and Anti-bacterial clean services to ensure your vehicles air conditioning system is running as cool & as efficiently as possible.

We recommend having your car air conditioning system checked and serviced with gas and lubricant every two years for optimal performance.

If your cabin area is not cool enough or the air con system is struggling to clear/demist your windscreen, then it’s time to get your air con system checked over by ATS Euromaster.

In fact, vehicle manufacturers’ typically recommend drivers get their air con systems (and refrigerant gas levels in the system) checked after the vehicle is two years old, then annually thereafter.

This is to ensure maximum system operating efficiency, as the system loses refrigerant naturally over time.

We offer air con recharge and anti-bacterial treatment services for both refrigerant gases widely used in vehicles today (R134a and R1234yf) to ensure your vehicles air conditioning system is running as cool and as efficiently as possible.

We can then check for leaks in the system prior to recharging it with the correct volume of refrigerant gas, as well as topping up essential system component lubricating oils.

ATS Euromaster offers one of the largest networks of air con equipment capable of servicing vehicles with R1234yf refrigerant – the new gas used by most motor vehicles registered after 1^st January 2017.

If you’re unsure whether your air conditioning system needs to have its refrigerant gas topped-up, our centre experts will be happy to carry out a free temperature test to see if the air coming from your system is as cool as it should be.

Batteries

What is the difference between a car battery and a leisure battery?

A car battery is found in all vehicles including vans, trucks and domestic vehicles. It stores energy created when the engine is running and perhaps most importantly is used to start the engine.

A leisure battery is used in caravans to provide power to electrical amenities such as the lighting, television and radio. The leisure battery isn’t used to start the engine and is kept in an entirely different part of the vehicle.

Car and leisure batteries are not the same type of battery so can’t be used interchangeably so if you’re about to set off on a caravan holiday make sure you check both batteries in advance.
