Geartorque was founded in 1995 by John L Hawkins, one of the top transmission professionals in the country and from the beginning the company has built up a reputation for quality, reliability and a service that is second to none. Geartorque is based in Westhoughton, Bolton and are the leading experts in automatic and manual gearboxes, differentials, 4×4 transfer boxes and clutches. We are equipped with various dealer spec diagnostic tools and our very highly trained technicians have invaluable experience and technical knowledge gained within the industry.

For many years satisfied customers have requested if we could open a service bay to carry out general maintenance of their vehicle too, so in 2009 by customer request we opened the “The Geartorque Service Centre.”
The fully equipped service bay can fulfil your vehicle needs from full servicing to air con recharging. If your vehicle is at our workshop for transmission rebuild, why not have our highly skilled technicians carry out an engine or full service to your vehicle while it is with us.
We are located on the A6, near the Reebok stadium, in between junction 5 and junction 6 of the M61, centrally located between Manchester, Bolton, Preston and Wigan.

Geartorque has the capability to rebuild any gearbox/transmission from classic car transmissions through to the latest high tech multispeed CVT transmission like the Audi Multitronics and DSG’s, Geartorque is more than capable.
Overheating or water contamination is the main reason for automatic transmission failure, caravan towing being one activity that can cause it. Mercedes 722 6, Vauxhall, Saab and Volvo gearboxes are particularly susceptible to this problem.
The solution is to have an additional air cooled oil cooler that will guard against the damage that could occur, and which usually results in a costly gearbox repair.

We also offer a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty on all our rebuilds. We also request that your vehicle returns for a free 30 day or 1000 mile check to be 110% sure that your transmission is going to be perfect for the long term.
For recreational vehicles or vehicles used for towing that have automatic transmission, it is recommended that these type of vehicles should be fitted with external oil coolers to protect the transmission from damage caused by extreme high oil temperatures. Remember! The cooler the oil in your transmission, the longer it will last.
